Chapter 9 in Ethnographies of Diagnostic Work, 2010, pp 149-167 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Traditionally in England if you are feeling unwell you may seek advice from your local General Practitioner, a family member, a friend or just get on with managing it yourself. Since 2000, people have also had the option to telephone NHS Direct, a telephone health helpline, and talk to a qualified nurse.
