Abstract: Abstract Before the printing press and its democratization of the written word, information was a power closely held by the elite. A common language, the ability to read and write, and a medium that could move ideas as quickly as it could move people and products meant that ideas and inventions could no longer be closely held. This democratization of information made all the difference.
