A New Economic Order
Colin Read
Chapter 25 in The Rise and Fall of an Economic Empire, 2010, pp 220-223 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract While repeated patterns in history would suggest that, eventually, any economic empire will be replaced by another, it is more difficult to predict which empire will replace it. Even if we can at best make an educated guess about future contenders for a dominant empire, we can nonetheless predict the qualities a successful contender will need. These are the same qualities, of innovation and production, vision and leadership, that have allowed every other aspiring empire to attain the mantle in another time.
