Grassroots Politics in Popular Online Spaces: Balancing Alliances
Julie Uldam
Chapter 4.2 in Emerging Digital Spaces in Contemporary Society, 2010, pp 99-101 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract In a context where the grassroots and non-profit sector is argued to have been relegated to the remote margins of the Internet (McChesney 2007), popular online spaces potentially provide social movement organizations (SMOs) with possibilities for reaching wider publics, rather than merely connecting likeminded users and failing to challenge presumptions (Dahlgren 2005).
