Chapter 8.3 in Emerging Digital Spaces in Contemporary Society, 2010, pp 201-204 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The 25th International Congress of Mathematicians held in Madrid in 2006 confirmed that the Russian mathematician Grisha Perelman, who was awarded a Fields Medal, had solved the Poincaré Conjecture (PC). In the process of solving this major mathematical problem, Perelman has also helped to create significant changes in publishing practices for mathematicians.
