Give Me a Lever Long Enough and I Shall Move the World: Leadership, Influence and Power
Roberto Álvarez Blanco
Chapter 8 in Personal Brands, 2010, pp 160-187 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Albert Einstein once said, ‘We should take care not to make the intellect our god; it has, of course, powerful muscles, but no personality. It cannot lead, it can only serve’. Leaders know this and science has discovered deep emotional phenomena including the emotional mechanism whereby two people receive and understand the content of their respective minds. Emotion is the messenger of feelings. It is the vehicle which transports each signal from one person to another.
