Creating moments for others
Peter Shaw
Chapter 18 in Defining Moments, 2010, pp 156-161 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Creating good moments for others can be a source of encouragement and fulfillment. Moments when we see people grow and take opportunities that they have long resisted can be a delight. Creating moments for others is never about telling them what to do: it is about creating a situation in which they can experience new or different moments that have a powerful effect on them. This might involve protecting somebody for a while to give them time to reflect; on other occasions it might involve asking incisive questions that help them work through to next steps.
