The Challenges
Marianne Coleman
Chapter 2 in Women at the Top, 2011, pp 18-44 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The quotation above sums up the views of the successful women whose voices are heard in this book. This chapter focuses on what they perceive to be ‘the problem’ — the career challenges and difficulties that have been barriers to their progress. We will look at ‘the things that can be done’ — the ways in which they feel that they have been able to counteract and handle the challenges they identify. Although there are references to relevant literature, the voices of the women dominate the chapter.
