Abstract:
Abstract In his critique of laissez-faire capitalism, written less than a decade after the Russian Revolution and following a visit to the Soviet Union, Keynes ([1926] 1972, p. 33) concluded that although ‘it is in many ways extremely objectionable … capitalism, wisely managed, can probably be made more efficient for attaining economic ends than any alternative system yet in sight’.
