Abstract The headlines at times of depression, double-dip and bear markets are all rather depressing. More and more (bright, young, qualified) people chasing fewer and fewer jobs; graduates having to do menial, sometimes even unpaid, work; middle-aged, middle-brow, middle-managers thrown on the dust heap … forever. Pipe and slippers, whether you like it or not.
