Abstract: Abstract It takes a lot of money to send an employee abroad: travel, accommodation, family resettlement costs. And an embarrassingly large number “don’t work out.” They don’t function very well. Some “go troppo.” Others have to be repatriated. A great adventure and a golden opportunity turn into a nightmare. Divorce, drink problems, depression … a pretty grim legacy from what was meant to be a wonderful, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
