Abstract:
Abstract In this book we have sought to show the interrelationships between key aspects of diversity, ethnicity and migration and their inter-linkages in the context of the health care sector. In doing so, we have revealed the complexity of public issues that imbue our understanding of diversity, ethnicity and migration in health care work and revealed some of the personal troubles experienced by individual health care workers. Moreover, we have chosen to situate our study in an international context which we believe provides a deeper and richer study than one which focuses solely on a single country. As such, our work demonstrates the resilience of the unequal treatment of disadvantaged groups across national boundaries; treatment which is underpinned and connected by the legacies of history intertwined with contemporary public issues. This final chapter offers an opportunity to reflect on how our concern with inequities associated with equality, diversity and migration might fare in the three countries on which we have focused in the second decade of the twenty-first century.
