Approach to Data Collection and Analysis
Michael O’Mullane
Chapter 3 in University Leadership, 2011, pp 43-56 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter describes the approach undertaken for data collection and analysis to explore the three identified gaps and limitations in knowledge of university organisational leadership, assuming the interrelationship of leadership and other organisational processes demonstrated by the relatively open systems model developed in Chapter 2. As time and resource constraints have prohibited long-term direct observation of the practices of university organisational leadership, the broad data collection strategy was to gain information on the way university-related practitioners perceived approaches to university organisational leadership, organisational leadership development and the challenges to universities that university leadership needs to address.
