Abstract: Abstract The plant was newly built and, when production started, team organization was introduced in order to foster a feeling of commitment to work and to make the employees identify with the company. The team concept, with its emphasis on community and influence, was to permeate the entire workplace. There were to be teams on two levels within the organization. One was directly related to production, entailing that each shift was to be a united and integrated group. Independently of occupation and tasks, the employees were to cooperate and help each other to achieve productivity goals. The teams were even provided with a small budget to arrange common leisure activities. On this basis, a strong sense of social solidarity developed within the production teams.
