Commitment

Chapter XII in Rethinking Rational Choice Theory, 2012, pp 174-185 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract An agent who is rational and self-regarding takes care of him- or herself, and this self-care extends in the future. Self-care is an admirable quality and prudent individuals possess this quality. Prudence is an instrumental quality. Commitment is a disposition in which the right thing to do has priority over doing good to oneself.
