Abstract:
Abstract Between the year preceding the Monopolies and Mergers Commission (MMC) inquiry and the year in which it was completed, that is, between 1985 and 1989, the UK beer market had grown, without interruption, by a little under 6 per cent. As referred to in the previous chapter, however, and as shown in Figure 17.1, between 1989 — the year in which the Beer Orders were made — and 2009 volumes fell by over 28 per cent.
