Chapter 3 in Intervention in the Modern UK Brewing Industry, 2012, pp 31-40 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Notwithstanding the Elders/Allied situation, old hands in the brewing industry may well have concluded in the autumn of 1985 that, at least for the time being, the industry’s structure and trading practices were safe from further investigation and interference. During 20 years of inquiries little in the way of specific fundamental change had ever officially been proposed, and the industry continued to function apparently to the reasonable satisfaction of most consumers, licensees and shareholders.
