The Relativistic Perspective

Chapter 6 in The Production of Seriousness, 2012, pp 174-197 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The interpretation of reality sketched in Chapters 4 and 5 is fundamentally structuralist. Memetic dynamics cannot be dealt with from the perspective of mechanical causality, nor are they teleological, aspiring to some goal. Even so they function; reality is not totally chaotic. They reveal, as I have attempted to show, obvious regularities and patterns. One could say that there is a structure to memetic changes. This leads on to the question of structures and structuralism.
