Abstract:
Abstract Innovation is increasingly regarded as one of the key engines of economic growth and prosperity (Lundvall, 1992; Nelson, 1992; Nelson and Rosenberg, 1993; Verspagen, 1995). One of the most relevant levels for the analysis and policy-making on innovation is the regional level (Lundvall and Borras, 1997) and the most influential strand of literature that deals with them is the regional innovation system (RIS) (Asheim and Coenen, 2005).
