Chapter 7 in Knowledge Transfer in Higher Education, 2012, pp 219-225 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract In the six years from 2005–11 the definition of knowledge transfer has evolved significantly. It has emerged from a highly commercially driven base to encompass interaction across the whole spectrum of the UK economy, as well as undergoing wider interventions within the knowledge economy. It has been debated, reshaped and repackaged several times to blend with the multiple ‘third mission’ remits of government and the higher education academy, and has taken on new descriptions and missions as that landscape has shifted.
