Gossip is good for you

Adrian Furnham

A chapter in The Talented Manager, 2012, pp 111-113 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract No want likes to be thought of as “a gossip”: a spreader of “tittle-tattle”; a malicious rumor monger; a time-wasting sniper at the great and the good. But we love gossip; and it sells. Whole magazines are dedicated to it. It is the life-blood of the best water-cooler moments. Nothing like a bit of juicy gossip about some cold, supercilious, senior manager.
