Loafers, suckers and free-riders
Adrian Furnham
A chapter in The Talented Manager, 2012, pp 143-145 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract There are many really wonderful benefits of meetings. One is an opportunity to have “time-out” while looking conscientious. Meetings take minutes but waste hours. You can write shopping lists, looking as if you are scrupulously taking notes. You can gaze earnestly at slides while thinking about holiday plans. You can surreptitiously do some Blackberrying with-out many noticing.
