Chapter 1.35 in Stories to Tell Your Students, 2011, pp 73-75 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract After serving his community in the local volunteer fire company for twelve years, John was elected by the fire company members to serve in the position of captain. As the captain, he was now responsible for supervising fire company personnel both on and off the incident scene. John’s department has been facing the same challenges as most other volunteer fire departments in terms of recruitment and retention of the organization’s most important resource—its volunteers.
