Abstract:
Abstract Practically, all aspects of our modern lives involve electric power, from light bulbs and television sets, to hospitals and manufacturing. Although we are used to having power whenever we need it, the processes and systems involved in delivering electricity require careful planning and sophisticated mathematical and forecasting models. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the electric power industry produces 12.7 trillion kilowatt-hours every year, consumes more than 2 billion tons of coal world-wide, and serves billions of people around the globe.
