Chapter 9 in Managing Today and Tomorrow, 1994, pp 166-190 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Organizations have been changing – often radically – to respond to competitive pressures and to the economic, technical, social and political changes affecting them. These changes affect the kinds of jobs that managers have to do, and the nature of their lives and careers. In Chapter 9 we will describe the changes affecting management and managers’ jobs and in Chapter 10 the implications for the individual. Readers who are already aware of details of the changes that have been taking place may prefer to begin study at the section ‘How Radical are the Changes?’ (pp. 182ff).
