Using Knowledge Engineering with Transaction Systems

Dimitris N. Chorafas

Chapter 5 in Transaction Management, 1998, pp 86-108 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Embedding intelligence in a transaction handling and database update mechanism is not only an interesting possibility, but is a basic requirement. The contributions knowledge engineering can offer are especially important as one of the key problems lies in the combinations long transactions can have, which means that: the number of interlocking situations may increase exponentially; as a result, no transactions will be able to commit unless some heuristic tools can be used to help.
