Chapter Chapter 10 in Crime at Work, 1998, pp 143-153 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The last decade has seen an increase in the study of repeat offending against the same target. Recognition of the facts of repeat victimisation provides much scope for prevention. Despite this, little study of offenders’ perspectives in targeting the same person or place has been undertaken. This paper reports interviews with robbers, in particular their replies to questions about repeat offending against the same targets. Some robbers are moved to rob premises when they are aware, from personal experience or indirectly, that a previous raid proved easy and successful. The findings are discussed in the context of the attempts to increase the risks to robbers.
