Abstract: Abstract Clubs and pubs which cater for young adults, especially those which are popular dance venues, face the risk of drug dealing taking place on their premises. Evidence suggests that door staff may be involved in such dealing in the premises they are employed to protect. The pressure is on for venue management to tackle such problems, or face investigations from their licensing authorities. This paper discusses models of door staff involvement in drug dealing, including associations with organised crime groups and drug dealers. Measures are discussed to ensure a ‘clean’ security team and to disrupt and deter drug dealing at venues.
