Abstract: Abstract The purpose of this final chapter is to summarise the major findings of the study and to draw out the implications for retail security management. There is no intention to be heavily prescriptive, not least because the authors have no professional responsibilities for managing retail environments. But it has been emphasised throughout that a central objective of the study was to generate data which could have practical implications. Security professionals and town-centre and shopping-centre managers may choose not to accept the conclusions; but in any case they should be in a position to make more informed judgements about how best to promote safe shopping.
