Chapter 14 in The Japanese Economy, 1997, pp 311-333 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract In this chapter we turn our attention to the contemporary living standards of the Japanese. This necessitates consideration of their income levels, their physical and sociological environmental conditions and the range and nature of welfare provisions available to them. We shall commence with welfare issues and then move on to the other topics.
