Chapter 1 in Europe’s Economic Dilemma, 1998, pp 1-21 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This book has two interlocking objectives. The first is to explain why the economic performance of the European Union has been so poor during the last twenty-five years. The second is to put forward proposals which are feasible and practical, to enable the economies of Europe to operate much better than they have done recently, growing faster, with much less unemployment, and thus generating more social and political cohesion.
