What It Takes to Outsource the Pattern of Production
Dimitris N. Chorafas
Chapter 7 in Outsourcing, Insourcing and IT for Enterprise Management, 2003, pp 143-165 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Outsourcing the pattern of production, or at least part of it, is nothing new. Lamp companies, among others, do it as a matter of course. To bring costs down, they specialise in certain types of lamps, manufacturing these types both for themselves and for some of their competitors. In the latter case, they are stamping on them the other company’s name or logo.
