Abstract:
Abstract In China, since 1979, the economic reform — decentralization of decisionmaking combined with development of commodity production — has encouraged investment and generated rapid increases in agricultural output and farmers’ household income. In Guangdong Province, the income of rural households grew rapidly between 1978 and 1993. However, since 1994 the growth rate has slowed down (see Table 5.1).
