Abstract: Abstract The practical examples presented in Chapter 3 come, to a very large extent, from the USA. Today, the American market makes up around 80 per cent of world-wide Internet commerce. Western Europe represents about 10 per cent and East Asia 5 per cent. The rest is dispersed. Over the near-term, the US share is expected to decline to about two-thirds to three-quarters of the world’s total online commerce, as Europe catches up, followed by Asia. It is appropriate, however, to distinguish between: retail trade, or B2C; and wholesale trade, or B2B.
