Finding a Mentee or Mentor and the Matching Process

Jane Cranwell-Ward, Patricia Bossons and Sue Gover

Chapter 18 in Mentoring, 2004, pp 154-162 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract This chapter will look at the process of finding a mentee and mentor from both perspectives. In most formal mentoring programmes the scheme manager takes responsibility for the allocation of mentors. In informal pairings the mentors and mentees will have more influence on the selection and, in some cases, the mentee will find their own mentor. A case study is included to help mentees to understand what it might be like to have a senior executive as a mentor.
