IT Decisions: Everybody’s Problem!

Steven I. Davis

Chapter 9 in Bank Mergers, 2000, pp 82-92 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The selection of IT (information technology) systems and the subsequent conversion process to common platforms rank high on the list of issues which continue to frustrate bank mergers. It was this issue which caused the brow of most of our bank interviewees to furrow and elicited tales of frustration, conflict, unexpected costs and delays. It is thus not surprising that the post-merger integration manuals of the leading consulting firms devote, to the untutored generalist, more space to this topic than any other merger issue. The reasons for this preoccupation are not hard to find.
