The Impartial Competitor

Chapter 37 in Adam Smith’s Lost Legacy, 2005, pp 158-161 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Nathan Rosenberg peoples his essay with ‘capitalists’ in place of ‘merchants and manufacturers’ — brevity over verbosity is admirable, except where it sacrifices accuracy.1 He commented: A businessman who had been taught to regard Adam Smith as a capitalist apologist might well be excused for wondering what sort of strange capitalist apologetics this is, and if this is what we are likely to get from our friends, just what may we expect from our enemies?2
