Chapter 5 in The Japanese Business and Economic System, 2001, pp 115-138 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter focuses on recent technological developments in East Asian countries, with particular attention to technology transfer from Japan. In particular the chapter argues that human-embodied technology transfer has played a critical role in technological accumulation in modern Japan, as it has in the Asian region as a whole. In this respect, technology transfer systems that emphasise the OJT (on the job training) for workers and engineers in overseas units and home factories seem to have been effective.
