Chapter 5 in The Knowledge Economy in India, 2003, pp 87-105 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The Indian software industry is often quoted as one of a few bright spots in India’s economy where local companies have been able to successfully compete with other global players. Both local political leaders such as Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee (‘IT is India’s tomorrow’1) and global software luminaries such as Bill Gates (‘India is likely to be the next software superpower’2) have attested to this promise of the Indian software industry.
