Abstract:
Abstract The advent of the internet has turned research into a new form of serendipity. You decide to work on something, you do a search on the internet and you begin a journey full of surprises through the 1 million or so documents which Yahoo! tells you are relevant to whatever it is you are searching for. And that is just what I did when a few years ago I started working on migration. My first search term was simply ‘migration’. I was, but should not have been, surprised to find that the first few hundred or maybe thousand of the documents offered me were about birds.
