A Theoretical Framework for the Understanding of Teams
Margaret Gilbert
Chapter 1 in Teamwork, 2005, pp 22-32 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract In his description of the aims of a projected workshop on teamwork the distinguished economist Michael Bacharach included the following examples of teams in the human world: couples, families; workgroups, platoons, sports teams and street gangs; nations in times of war, international military alliances, terrorist cells.1 This list makes it clear how vital it is to understand the nature and functioning of teams if one is to understand and, one might add, cope with the human situation.
