EU Accession and the Evolution and Design of Competition Policy: The Case of Hungary

Chapter 5 in Shaping the New Europe, 2004, pp 117-145 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract New institutions can be built and new laws adopted during the course of transition, but creating effective markets is not solely a policy issue. Good cooperation between legislators, governments and players in the markets is needed to establish a regulatory framework in which competition can unfold from the traditionally monopolistic market structures in transition economies.
