Europe: Pillar of the World Economy or Just an Appendix?

Norbert Walter

Chapter 8 in Challenges for Europe, 2004, pp 168-177 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The title of my lecture requires two warning notes. First, Europe certainly is not now (and during my lifetime will not be) a pillar of the world economy. But neither will it be an appendix. Second, you should be warned that I am quite emotional on the subject of Europe.
