Abstract: Abstract The small figure scurrying across the tarmac in this remote vignette is none other than the Freddie Laker whom we last met in John Bloom’s office pondering whether to let Bloom run with his debts. At this slightly earlier point in his career, he is an amply-proportioned young man of 35. He is the managing director of Aviation Traders, the company which built the Accountant, and of a small but growing airline, Air Charter. Skytrain, the no-frills economy airline aimed at the common man, with its fleet of fourteen wide-bodied jets is still 16 years in the future, as is Laker’s iconic status as Mrs Margaret Thatcher’s favourite capitalist.
