Using FIRO-B

Chapter 10 in Assertiveness and Diversity, 2007, pp 101-110 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Developing assertive relationships and assertive communication is greatly facilitated by an understanding of the three basic interpersonal needs described in the theory and model of Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation—Behavior (FIRO-B). FIRO-B offers people an insight into their own interpersonal needs and those of others, and helps people to better understand their differences and to work together more effectively. Applying FIRO-B to team working is especially helpful in understanding and working with team dynamics and stages of team development.
