Abstract:
Abstract In Chapter 1 it was argued that the depth of the corporate hierarchy (or vertical span) measured by the number of hierarchical levels between the top and the bottom of the organization (i.e. between the top manager and line workers), was a key characteristic of firms’ corporate hierarchy (see in particular Section 1.2.1.1 of Chapter 1).
