Abstract The energy and environment problem is one of those nagging old dilemmas that continue to haunt us because we rarely see the enormous opportunities it conceals. Lee Scott, CEO of Wal-Mart, admits he started his company’s conversion to sustainability as a “defensive strategy” but it “turned out to be precisely the opposite.” Now the program has Wal-Mart employees feeling good about their company, and saving customers money while protecting the environment.1
