Abstract: Abstract In the previous chapter, we discussed how to assemble your experience, aptitudes, skills and qualities into a credible persona for an executive or a non-executive board role and then promote it. Maybe you felt, while reading it, “that’s all very well, but it’s easier said than done” or “there must be more to it than developing a CV, raising my profile and planning my career.” If so, you were quite right, of course. In our experience, that process, which sounds straightforward enough, often triggers or requires another, far more fundamental process that amounts to a root and branch self-examination.
