Abstract: Abstract I aimed from the start to illuminate the work my colleagues and I do, partly since we are paid from public money so everyone has an interest in this rather hidden aspect of consulting. I hoped to inform not only my own work and that of people who work with me, but also raise broader issues for a wider audience, both those commissioning and those consulting, as well as for researchers. Here I weave together the threads of this book to address the divergent interests of readers that I hope come together in concern for the implications of my work for our practice.
