Abstract: Abstract Of course, while the President’s inaugural words in 1933 were words the nation needed, it was only the first volley in the war against recession and depression. What followed the Emergency Banking Act of 1933 was a series of initiatives designed to stimulate the economy. The question remains, though — do Keynesian fiscal stimulus policies work?
